Ladies, do you claim your handbag as a tax deduction?

For a long time briefcases have qualified as a legitimate work-related expense, but the Australian Tax Office (ATO) has indicated that handbags, satchels or tote bags may also fit the bill.

The ATO told news.com.au that deductions can be claimed for assets that are: "predominantly used for work purposes, such as bags and satchels used to carry work papers or electronic devices, to the extent that such items are used for work purposes.”

Like all things in this space there are certain rules that apply, as outlined in the article above.

Here are a few Henk Berg bags that are designed with our professional customers in mind.

THE ELISE:

Henk Berg leather work bag called the Elise.

The Elise is undoubtedly our most popular bag for working women. Its deceptively large main compartment a Macbook, A4 files, an iPad, a notebook, lunch and even a small umbrella.

It also has two smaller sections with zips on the outside, which are perfect for smaller items that need to be accessed quickly, such as your wallet.

Like all of Henk Berg bags, it has a dedicated section inside the main compartment for pens, mobile phones and keys.

It has two shoulder straps and an optional cross body strap, perfect for commuters who cycle into the office or for those who want to be hands-free during the day.

The colour palate for this design includes black, brown, red brown, navy, green, red and natural.

THE CATIE:

If you want simplicity, the Catie has it covered. The large easy compartment opens up like a traditional shopping tote. It's big enough to fit a laptop, iPad, notebook, lunch, make-up bag and a small umbrella.

The style, which still has an internal zip compartment and mobile phone holder, also offers women working in a less corporate environment a less formal alternative to a briefcase or highly structured satchel.

THE ANNA:

This is one of our more compact bags for work, perfect for those conscious of keeping their load light and preserving their posture.

Although the Anna is a smaller bag, it will still fit an iPad or standard tablet device and there is always the option of leaving the folded leather top standing up so additional items can be carried.

It has an external compartment with a zip to allow you to reach your most essential items easily and an internal zip compartment and mobile phone holder.

Like so many of our bags, it has a shoulder strap that can be adjusted to allow the bag to be worn on the shoulder or across the body.
